MOVIES/BOOKS
Angels and Demons, very entertaining movie starring Tom Hanks, based on book by Dan Brown the author of the Da Vinci Code. Time: 2 hours and 20 min. PG 13. No bad language or sex scenes but moderate amount of violance. It’s a thriller. Plot is very complex and requires close attention to the dialogue. Good movie.
The Associate, novel by John Grisham, his best since The firm. Hardback, 372 pages, easy reading. Best novel I’ve read in years.
Resilience, autobiography by Elizabeth Edwards about her personal hardships and travails. Hardback, 213 pages. Very sad, almost lugubrious, story of the author’s grief over her son’s death, her own day-to-day struggle with terminal cancer and her husband’s adultery scandal. Because it is so saddening to read, I don’t recommend it to anyone.
Public Enemies- movie about notorius bank robber of Great Depression era, John Dillinger, played by Johnny Depp. Great acting but filmed like a sausage chain–one like-segment after another after another. My rating: C+.
The Proposal–movie starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. Funny and heart-warming. My rating: B+.
I really like Sandra Bullock. Have not seen “The Proposal”, yet.
